Bring Your Baby to the Movies? Yes Please!
March 7th, 2012 by ariana
I get a LOT of press releases. Most go straight into my recycling bin. But when TheBump.com sent this one about “Bring Your Baby Matinee” I was intrigued – hey, maybe I WILL get to leave the house again after the twins arrive!
I love this idea, if nothing else than the potential for meeting other local moms. But also because they seem to pick Romcoms that I might otherwise be embarrassed to admit that I want to see!
The matinees are scheduled for the first Tuesday of every month. Here’s a list of participating AMC theaters (there’s one right next to us, yay!):
· Arizona (3) Phoenix and Mesa
· California (12) Covina, Anaheim, Manteca, San Diego, Norwalk, Ontario, National City, Woodland hills, Rowland Heights, Tustin, Riverside

We haven’t heard from you in a while, Ariana. Hope all is well with you and the babies. I imagine morning sickness must be kicking into high gear by now.
omg this is brilliant! so glad u posted this info. neeed new mommy friends and some theatre popcorn
Love this! Can’t wait to give it a try!
This was one of my fav things to do on maternity leave when I was in Los Angeles. They’re called Monday Mommy Movies there, and it was a nice way to get out of the house with a little one. The lights were up, the volume was lower, and they even had a table set up at the bottom w/ a trash can for changing the kidlet!
When my son stops napping I will take advantage of this. Thanks for posting!
I still can’t believe you are having twins! I hope one of them will be a girl! otherwise, you’ll be a Mom of boys!! :)
I went to one of these Mommy and Me movies (that’s what they’re called here) when Annora was about 8 months old. She was a bit too old for it to be a calm experience, plus I watched The Reader which was very serious. I also went to one when Kai was about two months old and saw a much lighter, rom com movie. It was great! I chatted with some other moms before the movie started and got to zone out a bit at the theatre while Kai slept in his bucket seat. They had a table set up just outside the theatre with free diapers so if your baby needed to be changed you didn’t have to line up in the bathroom for the one stall with a change table. Great experience!
I got the same release – SO excited! They used to have a similar program and I was SO bummed that they discontinued it right before Cole was born… Hopefully this sticks around a while!
