In regards to my previous post about the high temperature – it was a fluke. My BBT went back down to 98.4 ish yesterday and back up to around 98.7 today.

I woke up at 5am this morning and could NOT fall back to sleep. Partly because I was restless in general but I was also having period-like cramps which usually starts to happen to me around 10dpo which is three days before I usually get my period. The cramps together with the fact that my breasts stopped feeling sore today tells me that my period is on its way as usual. Its weird though, I would have thought the progesterone supplements would keep the large/sore bbs going up until I stop taking them.

Maybe my body just isn’t fooled by the fake stuff!

In other news..

I just got an interesting email from Dr. I used to work for. She struggled with infertility and went through several rounds of IVF before getting pregnant with her son. Figuring she was pretty savvy on the NY IVF scene I asked her what she thought of the various clinics I was considering.

I was very surprised when she wrote that she didn’t have a good experience at ALL with NYU and Dr. Griffo. And she went to medical school at NYU! She ended up switching first to RMA NJ and then RMANY where she ultimately had her baby. Until now I had been leaning towards NYU… I have to email her back and get more details!

This morning I woke up and my temperature was 98.85!

You can see from the chart above that this is much higher than my normal temperatures.

In the REAL world, this would probably have no significance. But in the alternate world of infertility, this is the kind of “sign” that desperate infertiles obsess over during the crazy-making two week wait.

It could mean that an embryo has implanted in my uterus and started generating its own progesterone. Baby’s progesterone + the fake progesterone suppositories = big temperature rise.

Or, it could mean absolutely nothing.

I have been extraordinarily unstressed this 2ww. Last month, I wrote down every tiny little twinge and chocked it up to the possibility that I was pregnant. This month, I haven’t even been thinking about it.. maybe because I haven’t had many symptoms. This temperature rise is the first thing out of the ordinary to report.

Well, that and the fact that my BBs are three times their normal size! But that is thanks to the progestrone suppositories so it doesn’t count. Ditto the weight gain (I hope anyway, it would suck if its just extra thanksgiving calories!)

One temperature in and of itself doesn’t mean much.. what people look for is a consistent second thermal shift called a “triphasic” pattern which is common in pregnancy charts.

Wish me very high temperatures tomorrow morning!!

So much for treating my body like a temple.. I have an incredible weakness for prosecco. Thanksgiving dinner I had at least two glasses.

Last night, the night after thanksgiving we drove my friend Amy home to Brooklyn and met some of our other friends out at a bar (the other friends are a pregnant couple natch.)

Unfortunately, the bar also served prosecco by the glass (which is fairly rare!) and I availed myself of two.

My reasoning? Other than a general lack of willpower was that the embryos, if there are any, aren’t even out of the fallopian tubes yet. Also, what are the chances I’m actually pregnant anyway? Like 10%?

I know that the reason for not drinking is more of a holistic thing, its not because a glass or two of prosecco can actually hurt an embryo.. but its so hard to be that good all the time.

In other news, I continue to be completely grossed out by the progesterone suppositories.

Yesterday, (black Friday) Amy and I went shopping most of the day and I was fine up until about 4pm, when like clockwork, the medicinal contents of the suppository finally give way to gravity. I wear a pantyliner because I know this is coming, but its still wet and uncomfortable and makes the 2ww just that much more endless and unbearable.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Unfortunately neither Jeff nor I could muster up the energy to have sex last night, so I’m really hoping it was Sunday the day it was “supposed” to happen.

Either way I’m happy that I am officially in the two week wait..even though the 2ww drives me certifiably insane.
This morning I took my first progesterone suppository. Does the fun never end?
