Help Sam

This weekend, I lost an incredibly dear friend to cancer.   It was quick –  shockingly quick, and I have been an emotional wreck..the tears come fast every time I think about her which is often.  Jasper and I went to try to visit her the day that she died but she had been “sleeping” since the day before and couldn’t have visitors.. I knew what that meant and I broke down crying and left the hospital with Jasper who did NOT want to leave without seeing her.  He kept saying “Gale, Gale, Gale, Sleeping, Boo Boo” and it made me cry even harder.

So it was in that fragile emotional state that I read Jill’s blog post about 5 month old baby Sam who was recently diagnosed with Stage 4 High Risk Neuroblastoma:

Any child (or anyone!) diagnosed with cancer is heartbreaking, but this little boy’s story, his smile, and maybe the fact that Jasper had those same pajamas just really got me yesterday, particularly so soon after having lost someone I love to this evil disease.

If you have a minute, please check out Jill’s post about Sam and the Help Sam fundraiser she’s doing. There are some amazing prizes that she is in the process of adding to daily including a pair of earrings from my mom’s Etsy shop and the necklace of the winner’s choice from Charmed & Dangerous.

I need for there to be hope for this little boy like there wasn’t for my friend.   Thanks in advance for any support you can give!

Like many others, I only can say how sorry I am. I cried and cried and cried again. I have donated and I will keep both families in my prayers.

Oh man, this post made me cry at my desk. I am so sorry for your loss. That little baby face up there looks so much like my son (he is 7 months old) and it was just too much. I have donated and I am sending good thoughts to both families you mentioned.

I am so sorry and saddened to hear about your loss. Thank you so, so much for helping me out with this. What a fantastic way to honor your friend’s memory. You’re awesome. (And now I’m off to update the prize list!)
