Tractors & Tiaras

Here are a few of my faves from the Tractors & Tiaras shoot!
All images taken with my Canon 5D Mark II and Tamron AF 28-75mm f/2.8 Lens
All in all the shoot went well, though the sun decided to go behind a big cloud JUST as the perfect golden hour light was setting in. I had hoped for a more sunkissed look for most of these. I also wasn’t able to get any great shots of the two kids together, but with two toddlers cooperation is hard to come by!
The one thing I wish I had done differently was get more zoomed in shots of the kids faces. I was so taken with the tractor and the gorgeous surroundings that I tended to zoom out and shoot at the wide end of my 28-75, which means less bokeh than if I had zoomed in to 75. This also reinforces my desire to get my hands on a 70-200.. though I still worry about trying to get eye contact while so far from my subjects. But realistically, eye contact was hard to come by anyway, so at least I would have had gorgeous bokeh with my non-eye contact shots!

Fiona, the golden hour is the hour just before sunset when the light is golden.. there’s even a golden hour calculator website! http://www.golden-hour.com/
her boots are to die for! I love the idea behind tractors and tiaras!
Great photos. When is the Golden Hour? Do tell. Going to the park tomorrow with my camera. Would love to know what the best time is to take photos.
