I just discovered your blog a few days ago and think it's amazing! You are very talented! I recently just bough Lightroom 3 and I'm not too familiar with it yet, but was wondering if there was a way to blur out backgrounds in it?

Hi Mayday, so nice to "see" you here! If you can get your hands on the Sigma for $100, then yes yes yes! It's normally $400, is the one you're looking at used?

Have you considered getting Elements? There are some great deals on it right now.

I know what you mean about it seeming like older babies were SO much older.. and then before you know it there's almost no difference at all :)

Samm, I would put it like this.. 95% of my photos I can edit in lightroom with just some white balance and exposure adjustments. It also takes care of cataloging and doing all my exports to jpgs etc. I can even do selective eye sharpening and apply certain "presets" which are like photoshop actions. If I do need to do something a little bit more detailed editing wise (like clone out a large object etc) I can just click "edit in photoshop" and it opens photoshop and saves a copy of the edited version along side the unedited version. Does that make sense?
