Happy Five Month Birthday Jasper!

Dear Jasper,

Today you are five months old and unfortunately you got your first fever yesterday. But you are such a trooper! You are laying on your playmat smiling at me right now, being the happy good natured boy that you have been lately.

You changed so much in the last month I don’t even know where to begin! Every day it seems you do something new for a few days and then forget all about it because there are just too many fun things to try.. like the happy high pitched screeches you communicated in exclusively for 4 days which were then replaced by razzing all day for a few more days or more recently the babbling that sounds like you are about to talk at any second.

You even stopped screaming in your carseat which makes our trips to and from daycare much more pleasant! Of course you also passed some major milestones this month like rolling over, and you are showing signs of ones soon to come, like when you sat up for a few seconds by yourself the other day, or how you inch around your playmat on your belly getting ready to crawl.

One thing that you started to do this month that you are still doing is grabbing my mouth and sticking your little fingers in it and kneading like a cat every single time you nurse. It hurts if I don’t keep your fingernails really short, but its so funny and cute that I don’t even mind. Sometimes you reach for my mouth and get my nose instead.. and I have to be really careful to make sure you don’t pull my nose ring.

You are so incredibly interested in the world around you that I can barely get you to concentrate enough to eat.. you are completely fascinated by cups, plates and anything food related and you chew your hand when you see us eat. I guess you are trying to tell us something!

I can’t believe that in one month you will be half a year old. I wonder what new exciting things 6 months will bring?
